I'm no critic, but...

Submarine movies are rarely particularly good, and they’re all pretty much the same. They have to shut off the motors and be real quiet and sweaty while the air goes bad and the enemy drops depth charges. Most naval-type story lines are not my cup of tea, except pirate movies when they run their hands through the treasure. Also, I hate when they make you think it’s going to be a monster movie but it’s actually an old dark house mystery with a snooty aunt and a plucky gal reporter. But you know what’s the worst of all? Lumberjack adventures.

Dear Dave,
So you don’t like lumberjack adventures? Then maybe you should treat yourself to some good old-fashioned gold rush movies! I’m telling you, this is one motion-picture genre that always pans out, no matter what your pleasure and/or gold rush: rock-‘em, sock-‘em buddy comedies … rollicking musicals, filled with sassy gals and lonely fellas singing and dancing amidst realistically painted backdrops of majestic mountains and rustic cabins … gritty, semi-autobiographical old-prospector tales pitting man-against-nature-and-at-least-one-other-(cruel)-man … In other words: It’s a movie mother lode that’s pure cinematic gold!

P.S.: Hey to Nikki! And stay safe, you two!

Oh jeez. "Pans out." You should be ashamed. But it's good advice. Both Ernie Kovaks and Fabian are in "North to Alaska!"

And I didn't even write that intentionally! My spirit hammy animal must've taken over for a bit...
